A unique, minimalist look at pole vaulting.Pole vaulting is such a strange and unique sport, and we love the commitment the athletes take to their jumps (and falls). An honorable mention entry into the Minimalist Photography Awards, we see Klaus Lenzen’s endearing series “Pole Vault Minimal”. In the series, we see only bits and pieces of the athletes and their poles, as Lenzen captures.. The series “Pole Vault” was created over three years during the annual Decathlon meeting in Lenzen’s hometown of Ratingen, Germany. The photographer wants to present this aesthetic sport differently than the normal sports photography.
